INSTANT ENERGY JUICES
CARROT APPLE JUICE (SERVES 2)
INGREDIENTS
8 carrots, scrubbed and sliced
3 apples, sliced
½ teaspoon ginger (crushed)
Method: blend in a blender and serve.
CUCUMBER-APPLE JUICE
INGREDIENTS
1 cucumber
1 apple
Method: Blend in a juicer
CARROT-CELERY JUICE
INGREDIENTS
3 carrots
1 tablespoon chopped celery
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Method: Blend in a juicer
PINEAPPLE-APPLE JUICE
INGREDIENTS
1 bowl chopped pineapple and apple
Method: Blend in a juicer
FRESH LEMONADE (SERVES 2)
INGREDIENTS
2 small lemons (squeeze out the juice)
75 grams sugar (powdered)
400 ml.water
Salt to taste
Method: Mix the ingredients.
CITRUS COOLER (SERVES 1)
INGREDIENTS
¼ glass pineapple juice
¼ glass orange juice
¼ glass sweet limejuice
Bend and serve.
SOYA AND SAFFRON COOLER (SERVES 2)
(Saffron contains Saffronal, Cinelle and Crocins, which are known to have anti-depressant and mood enhancing properties)
PREPARATION TIME: 10 MINUTES
INGREDIENTS
2 glasses soya milk
3 tablespoons honey
1-tablespoon saffron (soak in warm water for 5 minutes)
2 tablespoons almonds (ground)
Ice
Method: Blend soya milk, honey and saffron in a blender. Whiz until smooth. Add ground almonds, a few strands of saffron (optional) and ice. Serve.
GREEN TEA WITH APPLES (SERVES 2)
Malic acid, potassium, vitamin C, fibre, flavonoids
INGREDIENTS
2 green tea bags
1 small eating apple
Half a lemon (juice)
1 small glass apple juice
Method: Brew tea bags for 5 minutes in 2 cups of boiling water. Remove tea bags. Cool.
Add lemon juice and apple juice. Core apple and cut into thin slices. Serve with apple slices on top.
LEMON GRASS LEMONADE (SERVES 2)
Vitamin C, potassium, folate, limonene, calcium
INGREDIENTS
2 lemons (juice)
2 tablespoons sugar (unrefined)
1-cup lemongrass (chop the leaves)
Crushed ice
Method: Add sugar and chopped lemongrass to 3 cups water. Slowly bring to one boil. Strain.Cool. Add the lemon juice. Add the crushed ice. Serve chilled.
TANGY CITRUS JUICE (SERVES 2)
Vitamin B3, B5, C, carotenoids, folate, potassium, fibre, lycopene, beta carotene, flavonoids
PREPARATION TIME: 5 MINUTES
INGREDIENTS
2 oranges
1 grapefruit
1 lemon
1 sweet lime
Method: Peel and slice fruits. Bend in a blender. Serve.
PURPLE-COLOURED ICE-CANDY (SERVES 4)
Plums greatly improve the strength of the liver; they are a traditional remedy for constipation and have a cooling effect on the entire system.
Makes: 4 moulds
INGREDIENTS
1 cup plum juice (blend peeled plums in a blender)
½ cup powdered sugar (unrefined)
¼ -cup milk (skimmed)
Method: Mix and freeze into a mould. Once set remove from mould and serve with sliced plums (optional).
TANGERINE LASSI(MAKES 2 GLASSES)
INGREDIENTS
1 glass tangerine juice
1 glass Lassi

INGREDIENTS
1-cup low fat yogurt
5 teaspoons sugar(unrefined)
4 cubes ice
Combine all ingredients and blend in a blender.
Method: Mix the tangerine juice and the Lassi. Serve.
KIWI CRUSH (SERVES 2)
Vitamin B3, C, beta-carotene, fibre, potassium, malic acid, flavonoids, iron, phosphorus, salicylates, zinc
INGREDIENTS
4 kiwi fruits peeled and sliced
2 green apples cored and cut
1-cup grapes
Method: Place ingredients in a blender and whiz until smooth.
CHILLED CHAMOMILE TEA (SERVES 2)
INGREDIENTS
2 chamomile tea bags
1 Lemon juice
2 teaspoons honey
Ice cubes
Method: Infuse 2 teabags in 2 cups boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes. Add honey and lemon juice. Cool. Add ice-cubes and serving.
